Banana Republic 24" x 32" Original Oil Painting by Raelene Shea The small sweet bananas of Sri Lanka are unforgettable - and grown everywhere. This was done from a sketch done while riding in a tuk tuk past a plantation. The warm wind causes them to rustle gently. I feel at peace.This scene is everywhere in Sri Lanka, but each time you look, it seems different. This is the first of  a series I am working on.  Achieveing the depth in the painting was the real challenge, so I tried to give it some mystery using deep blues, magenta, veridian in the strong background and shadow colours. These also complement the yellow green of the  leaves as they wave in the wind. There is a temptation to do too much detail in trees, but I have tried here to capture the movement instead of the detail.  AVAIABLE $150 USD
